Enhancing Professional Skills and Safety Competence at Dung Quat Refinery

The 3rd Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Competition for BSR's Outstanding Members was successfully held in 2026, attracting significant participation from union members of BSR - a subsidiary of Petrovietnam and affiliated trade unions. This event served not only as a competitive platform but also as an opportunity for union members to exchange knowledge on occupational safety and health, contributing significantly to ensuring the safe and stable operation of the Dung Quat Oil Refinery (NMLD Dung Quất).

The Vibrant Atmosphere of the Competition

The competition drew hundreds of enthusiastic participants with high determination and spirit. Teams from affiliated trade unions presented creative performances demonstrating comprehensive knowledge and skills in occupational safety and health. While the competition was spirited, it maintained a spirit of unity and mutual learning among participants.

According to the Organizing Committee, this marked the third time the BSR Occupational Safety and Health Competition has been organized, highlighting the critical importance of labor safety at the facility. The primary objective of the competition was to enhance awareness, professional skills, and competence of the occupational safety and health workforce in implementing safety protocols at the workplace.

Diverse and Practical Competition Content

The competition featured a rich variety of practical content, including:

  • Testing knowledge of occupational safety and health
  • Competency assessment in practical situation handling
  • Knowledge assessment on fire prevention and control
  • Response evaluation to emergency situations
  • Practical skills in using personal protective equipment

Each competition segment was designed to closely reflect actual work scenarios at the Dung Quat Refinery, ensuring high practical applicability and enabling participants to immediately apply their learning in daily work.

The Pivotal Role of the OSH Network at BSR

Through this competition, the Occupational Safety and Health Worker (OSH Worker) network at BSR further affirmed its core role in maintaining a safe working environment. OSH Workers not only monitor compliance with safety regulations but also serve as active propagandists, spreading a culture of risk prevention throughout the organization.

Mr. Nguyen Van A, Chairman of BSR's Trade Union, stated: "OSH Workers are the ones who directly interact with workers and understand the potential risks at the workplace. This competition provides us with an opportunity to recognize the efforts of our members and simultaneously create motivation for them to continue fulfilling their role in ensuring safety."

Significance of the Competition for Dung Quat Refinery

The Dung Quat Refinery is one of Vietnam's most modern oil refineries, playing a crucial role in the national fuel supply system. Ensuring the safe operation of the refinery is a top priority, affecting the safety of thousands of workers and the living environment of surrounding communities.

The 3rd BSR Occupational Safety and Health Competition not only enhanced the capabilities of the OSH workforce but also contributed to building a comprehensive safety culture at the Dung Quat Refinery. This enables the refinery to operate stably and efficiently while minimizing potential incidents.

At the conclusion of the competition, the Organizing Committee awarded prizes to outstanding collectives and individuals. The First Prize for collectives was awarded to the Trade Union of Area III, followed by the Trade Union of Area I and Area II, which received Second and Third Prizes, respectively.
